Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

Families, caregivers, charities and research groups across the United States are observing September as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. About Children of Chernobyl NC... PDF Print E-mail

Our Mission

We are a Christian-based non-profit organization whose mission is to offer care, compassion, and hope to the children and families affected by the Chernobyl disaster by aiding in their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.

What do we do?

The main activities of this organization revolve around organizing annual summer trips to North Carolina for children ages 7-16 who still live in areas contaminated by the 1986 Chernobyl disaster.

We also are in partnership with Show God's Love, which provides an orphan sponsorship program program in Belarus and in other parts of the world.  Click here for more information.

Summer Respite Program

Since 1997, we have been organizing annual summer trips to North Carolina for children ages 7-16 who still live in areas contaminated by the 1986 Chernobyl disaster. We work with a network of area Christian churches, whose congregational members will host the children in their homes. These respite trips are 6 weeks in duration and give the children the opportunity to breathe clean air, eat clean food, and most of all, be a kid again!

Orphanage Support

In May a group of 6 travelled to Belarus to finalize details of our in-country support for the Rudensk orphanage.  There are over 200 orphans who need sponsors. A sponsorship entails a monthly contribution, corresponding back and forth with your child, and the opportunity to send gifts at Christmas or Birthdays.  Note: We have spun off a new organization, "Show God's Love" to handle and expand the orphan sponsorship program.
