Like all children, some of the Belarusian children will eat anything that you put in front of them and some will be more "selective".  Almost any fruit will be a hit, especially watermelon and bananas.

The children often do not drink or eat milk products in Belarus because the radiation levels in the milk are high and the children are taught that it is not safe.  Some of the children loved milk products (plain yogurt, cottage cheese, cheese, milk) once they were told that it was OK to drink/eat milk products in the US, but others didn't like them (except for ice cream!).

Chicken, sausage/kielbasa, tomatoes, potatoes and boiled eggs were popular food items as well as the American foods of hot dogs, hamburgers, and pizza. Again, each child is different and many of them will need to be encouraged during the first week to eat what you fix for them as they are told to be polite and not to eat a lot.  After the first week, our child felt more comfortable expressing her likes and dislikes and eating as much as she wanted.
